2:27:48.4 marathon!

That's just ridiculous!!!! I can't even make that average pace show up on my monitor! (it must be busted, it doesn't display anything faster than 1:55... got to contact C2 about this apparent defect).

shhh....don't let Martin know I'm trying to catch up to him....I'm trying to sneak up on him, 8334 meters at a time...

Well done on the Marathon record Dwayne- my mind is suitably boggled by the thought of it!

Chris,

I see we're in the same race on Sunday at the Cardiff GP. Are you looking for another PB like BIRC or is it Chippy's turn? If Chippy gets a PB then at least it's not as far to home as BIRC was so he wont bend your ear for so long.

Look forward to seeing the founding fathers of Taff Attack! cool.gif

Game On!

I did 4*500r500 last night to the game plan (French Rowing Federation Race Strategy based on 500m time of 1:31):

1:38.4 (164HR)
1:43.1 (169HR)
1:43.4 (173HR)
1:39.7 (182HR) to give total active time of 6:44.6

Just need to exclude the rests now (2:07 pace). Any comments?

Hi Taffs, still on hols, internet access infrequent and painfully slow but love reading all that has been going on.

Good to see you catching me Carla after all that turkey and cranberry sauce - I'm not back in real action 'til late next week and have got 'Golfers elbow' to boot so you have plenty of scope to catch and pass !

Great PB's guys, esp Speedy's and the 500m speedsters. Ive just done a couple of tester rows on the elbow to get past the 700K mark (thanks Mike) - no getting around it - sore sad.gif

Good luck for Cardiff (this weekend ?)

Yay Sue! Great job on your 2K!

Hey Martin, truly I am sorry you're benched temporarily...it does mean I'll probably catch up to you but the Taffs need your meters! And when I do catch you, we'll be back, it'll be that relentless battle again....

Good luck everyone at the races! I'm proud of our team!

I am going to be very glad of my planned day off Saturday, I think it is hard rowing so many days in a row. But it's good discipline, I guess.

Just found out that something I'm playing Sunday is in cut time, so it's twice as fast as I thought...looks like hour with the metrenome tomorrow....

Hi Niall

Well, I'm about 70,000 metres away and want to get this first million out of the way, to set about getting to the next one by the end of March. I thought I might be able to do it by Tuesday but that's too much for me. So by the end of Wednesday should be ok by my calculations. So if you're up to the challenge....

More scared of what my wife would do to me (or not do to me!) if I broke my promise for Christmas shopping in Cardiff!

Couldn't find Chris or Chippy anywhere to say my goodbyes (or au revoirs) so suspect Chippy was locked away psyching himself up for his race (probably involves Chris shouting at Chippy "How many English men are ya gonna beat today?")
Daren C
All this talk of PBs made me think I should attack one of mine. I also got riled by some crappy customer support earlier (my server host won't tell me what's wrong with my hosted box, even though I pay the bills and signed the contract. All because a colleague also phoned them before me, so they'll only deal with him. Notwithstanding the fact that they closed my two earlier support tickets, without even giving a reason). Anyway, that worked me up into a frenzy and I wanted to smash things. Rather than destroying my expensive possessions, I went out to the rower.

OK, scene set. My recent 6k pace was faster than my 5k pace, so the 5k was the target for today. 2k warm up and then I hit it.

Old 5k: 18:40.5 @ 1:52.1
New 5k: 18:24.5 @ 1:50.5

Distance per stroke went down, but I just took more of them (12 more, in fact).
Niall
Two seconds per 500 off your old PB??!! I hope you continue to have cr@p customer support as it's clearly the motivation you need.

Great job fella, that's a stormin' improvement.

Now how about that 60mins PB? I'm currently beating you (only PB that I am!) and that can't sit very comfortably with you so you need to sort it out. I'm sure Godfried the Statistician would agree with me (your graph's probably a bit wonky around the 60mins area!).

Once again, great work on the 5k, heart of a dragon!!!
dadams
Daren,
Well done!!!

Everyone's getting all these pb's. It's getting me all pumped up. Wondering which one of mine I want to go after.

We're going to have the first relay race ever here in the US in Feb. So maybe a new 500 pb would be a good thing to work on.
