Unfortunately I've been asked to delay the finish until the New Year as my

Hi Warnie,
I'm out at Wattle Glen, near Eltham.
Give us a call on 9438-1605 if you have time when next out. Though I'll be in

Son John's MCG membership has just come through after 17 years, worth
the wait though. Tell us a bit more about cricket/tennis - my soon-to-be
son-in-law is a mad keen ex cricketer from Bendigo district (Bridgewater) and I
played 9 seasons of Saturday mixed in Heidelbeig District/DV comp in the

334notout.com -- good site; I enjoyed the origin of the
Ashes, which reads a little differently to the story I was told. I remember
watching both the TV series and the documentary about the 'Bodyline' series when
I was at school, so that section was also interesting.
I'm quite a fan of
cricket. Naturally, I support England, but when England aren't playing I support
the West Indies (my father's Guyanese, and when we lived in Guyana we actually
lived next door to Clive Lloyd's house, I'm told -- I was 6 at the time, so
didn't really take any notice).
Shouldn't you rename the site 380notout,
though? I suppose you could go for 400notout, but of course Lara's not an
Aussie.
Niall
Dec 17 2004, 10:31 AM
I'm going to be very quiet on this forum with all this
talk of cricket. Never seen the appeal of standing in front of three sticks with
only a flat log to protect yourself from some mad man intent on hurling a round
rock in my direction.
In school I was in the sports clique as I was in
the football team, rugby team and athletics team. People assumed I'd be just as
enthusiastic at cricket so when asked to join the team with the offer "are you a
batsman or bowler?. My answer which pretty much sums up my cricketing prowess
and interest was "Fielder!"
.
Now onto rowing. My local David Lloyd's Leisure Club has just replaced
all its model Cs for model Ds. I'm very pleased with this as it's going to
enable me to get more scientific with the rowijng as I'll have more data to
record and analyse.
One question for all your Model D'ers out there is
how to I get to transfer the data from the Model D at the club to my home PC? Is
it just a case of purchasing a C2 Logcard? How do I get the logcard data onto my
home PC? What about heart rate data?
Daren C
Dec 17 2004, 11:16 AM
Niall, you can purchase a C2 log card and put it into the
Model Ds at the gym, yes. However, you'll also need an appropriate card reader
attached to your PC at home that can read the card and you'd have to install the
"Concept2 LogCard Transfer Utility". I think the best place to ask about
appropriate card readers would be somewhere like info@concept2.co.uk or
rowing@concept2.com.
You could search on the forum(s) in case the
question has been answered elsewhere.
Heart rate data I'm not sure
about. I don't think the log card will record stroke data, but you might get end
heart rate recorded with splits. If you really want stroke data you'd have to
buy a laptop and USB cable and take them to the gym with you, I think.

Firstly you need to have the picture
hosted on the Internet somewhere.
You'll need to know the full path (URL) to
the picture (e.g. www.pictures.com/photo1.jpg).
Within a post, you then
use the IMG button in the Code Buttons to specify the path (i.e. you type or
paste in the full path/URL) into the IMG field prompt.
If the picture is
one on your computer then you'll need to use a facility like
Photobucket to host the
pictures for you.
Hope this makes sense. If not then let me know and
I'll try and make it clearer.

Great first up HM time Warnie - about 2:14 pace if I'm
not mistaken. Confidence gained from doing that distance at such a good pace
will carry over to the shorter distances when you decide to PB them next. Maybe
we can have an erg session when you are out here.
Hope Pakistan batting
gains the same degree of confidence in their 2nd innings to at least make it a 5

It was my first

Progress on 30 min 20 spm piece
Last time I tried
this, I ended up averaging 21 spm, not 20, and got 7037 m., which comes out to
11.16 MPS. This time I got into the rythm of it much better, averaged 20 spm,
and ended up with 7087--that's getting closer to my target of 12 MPS on this
piece (it's 11.8, I think). If I can get it to 12 I'll get around as many meters
as I do at my PB, which was around 10 MPS.
The trick is to keep the spm
at 20 by pulling every 3 seconds, while also pulling on 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, etc. Once
in a while I would screw up and it would change to 1, 3, 5, 6 oops 8, 0, 2, 3
oops 5.....
It certainly distracts you from being tired, watching all the
numbers!

Nice rowing Carla. I'll only do one more row on Wesnesday
before Christmas break so your 40K will not only snare the 200K Challenge but
get us back together ready for the final push towards the 1 Million for the
season. So many Taff already past 1 Million makes one keen to join them. Any
particular reason for 30 mins at 20 SPM - I see team Oarsome are doing it as a
challenge, are you keeping an eye on Carole ?
Great HM Chippy, looks like
you are blowing away your PB's at both ends of the spectrum. And keeping Chris
nicely in sight for a HM 'challenge' too.
Thoughts for T shirt or
something similar for those Taffs and Taff mates who are not likely to need the
racing version as they aren't entering comps - like me. Predominately Green top
third, White middle section and Red bottom with TA logo on front/back flanked by
TAFF ATTACK in white middle third ?? Saw a cyclist the other day with that style
of top - looked pretty eyecatching/cool. Green and Red parts seemed to 'merge'
into the white middle using a fancy pattern rather that a plain straight
horizontal line.

Hi Martin!
I'm glad to hear I can finally catch up
to you....I planned to have Christmas Eve (and a few days after that) off from
rowing and still make the Challenge so I'm must making it.
I'll be back from
my mom's on the 28th and can then commence rowing again. I'm looking forward to
a break and then back to less intense schedule, row two days, take one off. This
Holiday challenge has really showed me that I need that recovery time to be able
to PB. Daily rowing is making my legs feel like rubber reinforced concrete and
each day's row harder and slower, it seems!
I'm doing the occasional 20
spm piece for variety, and it was inspired by Carole's mentioning it. I actually
enjoy it, if feels good to me, I like it slow. I'm trying to see if I can match
my old 30 min PB at the slower rate.
I agree with you about the Taff
"uniform" I'd much rather have a T shirt--several of them--I don't think the one
piece outfit will really work for me, and even if I race I don't think I'd feel
comfortable in that. I'm really long in the torso and it's a rare one piece
anything that works.
