Shout me down in flames but I think the
Taff Attack first team will pick itself:
Speedy (capt), Paul B, Phil T,
Carla, Niall. (Chippy, can you believe the TA has rowers of this quality?)
I don't think we need
to actually "pick" a team. In fact, I think it's against the rules, to prevent
"tactical placement". Instead, the fastest 5 people that qualify become the
first team (including at least one woman and one LWT), then the next 5 become
the second team, and so on.

I had two attempts at the 6k, a week apart, and took off
about 30 seconds, so I'm hopeful that I'll be able to knock off another decent
chunk before December's out.
My quest for LWT isn't going so well,
though. After being 12/7 last week, I was 12/9 this morning. *sigh* I
just don't understand WTF my body does with the food I eat. I haven't been
over-indulging to any great extent. Very depressing, really, and it makes me
think "to h*** with it". But I've entered EIRC as a LWT now, so that's £9.50
written off if I don't make it.

I didn't really know if I
could hold 2:00 for 6K--I knew I've done it for a 5K but that was last year, and
30 seconds seemed like a big chunk to try to take off. But I really wanted to do
better for the team challenge. Anyway, I was really excited to actually manage
it. Does it bump us up to 2nd?
I don't know how to enter my time for the
cross team challenge. Also, is it just done by averaging our 5 times? Just
curious how the scoring works. It takes me forever to find stuff on the UK
forum. Plus they keep putting the UK forum link in the log book and then taking
it out 2 seconds later, it's driving me crackers.

Daren, I
suspect all the LWTs may struggle to stick to weight over the next 16 days. I've
still not found the Xmas/New Year opening times for Basingstoke Centre Gym.
(That may not count for the folks with their own ergs.)
Your minute off
the original time is excellent progress
. This 6K is
a b'stard of an event. I've been using the PM3 pace boat to avoid slowing down.
(Only good thing about a 6K is that it's good training for the Surrey IRC 3K on
14th Jan.)
I may try another before Dec is out. I'd like to aim for 1:50
pace. I've got to try some 1500 intervals and some 3K intervals.
The
Taffs need a second team, Niall is the 2nd LWT (unless he beats me), we need

In
fifty years time you'll be led in a box on your back, and all your flesh will

If, at that point your still
