Hiya Taffs,
Sorry about not putting on meters for the
team, my computers are both on fizz, something with server soon to be fixed. As
for erg also off as new position at work required a little extra time to start
with, I should be back as of next weekend to regular time on machine of death.
Little mike has also been off kilter and is back on the machine, he had
nasty blisters on both hands to cure and new gloves now should make his 30 min
times better.
Happy Birthday CarolMac
boy you are young
As for this weekend I did a birthday 49K I thought 1K per year, alas,
things started to go downhill after I turned 30
but I
finished a little better then when I did the 50K
Actually
was able to get off erg in one minute, then fall to floor wimpering about
growing old. Ohh well.
Hope to have computer fixed by Wed. will post
meters then, hope to move up a spot or two, fair warning guys.

Hey Debra!!! Way to go! I knew you could do it if you
just got the bit in your teeth! Glad to hear you're on schedule to finish it!
I'm thinking of something really great to send you....better email me your snail
mail address!
Martin, take care of them elbows! I'm sorry it's not the
handle 'cuz that would be a quick fix.
Mike, 49K in one go. ... you're
amazing for someone who just barely started erging!
Jim, great job on
finishing the Challenge so far ahead of time. Were you the sort that finished
term papers early, too? and file your taxes January 2?
My concert
went really, really well. Only 2 notes wrong in the whole 4 pagesin front of a
packed house (it's a small hall--probably 150 people--but that's 300 eyes and
300 ears!!!) so I'm really pleased and now I can just relax and enjoy the
holidays! I'm psyched to be doing the Holiday Challenge and adding meters to the
Taffy Bank!!!

I've ever added in one day. Thsi puts me just 62K to go to complete my Million
Metre Charity Challenge. I've just noticed as well that my Holiday Challenge is
at 199,301
. If only I
was mroe conscious of my Holiday Challenge total, I'd have put in an extra 700m
just to finish it. Never mind, plan to put in another 28K tomorrow.
Well
done to Debra getting to that 100K. Carla's surprise clearly spurred you
on.
Well done James on completing the Holiday Challenge, Heart of a
Dragon mate!
I'd also like to thank Mike for slowing down for everyone.
He's been tanking the metres over the last 8 weeks and he's given a glimmer of
hope to all those near him in the Team Standings (and I don't include myself in
that list as he passed me ages ago!).

Mike, 49k is a lot of rowing. I don't
think I'm capable of sitting in one place for so long. Am I the only person who
gets tired in this team? What happens when you get to 80; that's a hell of a
birthday row!

Nice figures Niall! How long does
it take to do 28k? And you're going to do it again tomorrow? You're a better man
than I am, Niall. I guess remembering the cause negates any feeling of
tiredness.
I thought I did ok yesterday when I watched Arsenal v Chelsea
at the gym. I rowed about 22,000 in the 1 hr 45 mins. I simply forgot the match
was on and got to the gym just in time for the start. I started so I couldn't
finish. I was glad to get off when the match finished!!! First 100,000 metre
week of the year, and it hasn't done me too much harm.
Congratulations
James. I've just about completed the holiday challenge, though I don't
understand the holiday bit. It felt like work to me!
Good luck with the
rest of the holiday challenge, Debra.

The 28K was made up of two seperate
sessions of 2x30mins (so it's 2 hours of actual rowing time).
The real
test will be how I feel tomorrow. Today's sessions were done at low spm
(18-20spm) so hopefully I'll be okay.

I finished the holiday challenge today. I've erged every
day since I got my C2 at the beginning of last month. I need a day or two off or
else a day or two of recovery rows. That will be a bigger challenge, seeing that
I might have a little problem with compulsive behavior. But nobody else is like

Nice one James, especially so soon
after a 25K row and an 8039er
Pecking order now becomes - James 8043, Martin
8040, Chris 8020 and Daren 7954. I was going to try for a sub 7 2K next gym
visit to be the first to go 'subsonic' (and ward off a 7:02.9 breathing down my
neck) but that 3 metres - very tempting !!! Now if my initials were JS I could
probably do both
Well done to all the Taffs that have or are about
to achieve the 200K target, esp. Jasmine who is supposed to fit in her Marine
Biology doctorate somewhere ! That 2nd spot on the team ladder is proving a
tough to crack Daren ?!

Hiya Guys,
Here is a first
Mike Jr.
added meters today and I still did not get on the erg. He is at 45888 and moving
towards his 100,000.
As for me, new job is taking toll on erging, hope to
get back to normal by Sunday.
Carla, Sorry not a new erger, just a lazy
one. Had my C for three years, Have a total of 6,200,000 total meters on line
and prior. started erging while on dragon boat team and after got to old to
paddle, went to erg. this year however with Team Taff Attack I have really piled
on meters, I believe it is the total support one feels from other members that
make the differance, don"t you agree? I did not even know my fellow teammates on
Forum Flyers. thank the erg I am a Taff.
Also, Son has progressed to four
songs on his violin, he reads your posts all the time, he is looking to do a
photo of him playing violin while sitting on erg. sick boy must be my son, no
need for dna
Godfried my man come on I am right in back of you, we both have to start
erging a little more. I am down 27lbs since July.
As for birthday meters
I did the 49K in three rows, and as for when I am eighty I will do 80K in 40 or
more rows but If I am alive I think I shall do it.

Top night, last night was see!
I was invited to
take part in the 'Chepstow Christmas Concept Challenge'
The Plan - 1000m
flat out - (and you will be!)
Chippy started first (after a quick ball
adjustment), and smashed his 3:23 into 3:18.0
Me next, new
PB of 3:14.1
Ramboyo up
next, previous best of 3:48, started fast, pulled massive lead on pace boat, and
DESPITE having to find the energy to hurl his false gnashers across the room
with 200m to go, STILL smashed his best to finish in 3:41.8.
Last but not
least Blod went for a new 500m PB, with an expected pace of 2:10 ish - However
heros abound as Blods variation of the wimp and groan brought her home with a
new PB of 2:03.7 -
Quality.
Later on, Chippy showed as all his new trick as he jumped on the
erg and pulled an impressive 1:16 max
pull.
The post about us erging in a pink wig, is just an
unfounded lie and should be ignored! - its not like they photographic evidence
or anything!

GREAT 6K PB Chris - very fitting you are the first Taff
(Speedy excepted of course) to sub 22 a 6K what with your determination to
overcome injuries etc. Well done old son and well deserved
I
have been eyeing off that 6K for a while but got 'distracted' by marathon
training and more recently trying to hold down pole position in the local gym 2K
challenge. Some young upstart went 6.59.9 the other day (on level 10 !) so I HAD
to do a 6.58.7 yesterday - would have been much quicker but mindful of need to
allow elbow to recover
. Now thanks to James and you I have added 6K and 30 mins
to the lenghtening 'must see about that' list
Love the friendly comp and reading of your achievements - keep it coming
(e.g. your 60 min looks .... ). As for pacing strategy, sounds good to me as you
are always on top of the piece that way. I tend to go out a bit faster than PB
pace, works well if feeling good but it can be a real struggle in the middle 3rd
and result in an 'abort' sometimes
So stick with
what seems like a controlled 'PB almost guaranteed' strategy
methinks.
Congrats to the Fearsome Foursome on 4 PB's too. Chippy's 1:16
pull is Speedyesque-like and a 3:18 1K is a huge sub 3:20 leap - top
stuff.
Keep it coming boyos,
Martin
PS
You easily win the award for the 'most posts in a row'. Only spoilsport Daren's
stood between you and Guinness Book of Records immortality

Hi Carole, I won't be at the WACA in Jan I'm afraid. I'm

Hi AT,
Dizzy had mentioned he
wanted the extra time out in the middle so we gave him the time for an 80
partnership with the Clanger. Which reminds me have to send a congrats email
!
I used to coach tennis and play cricket in Melbourne/Sydney - my MCG
membership comes through late December ;-) I come out usually in January and
February to work on the cricket and then fly back - hard life or what !! I see
you are in Vic, I used to live in Langwarrin, 10 mins from Frankston the great
metropolis !!!

Welcome aboard Miles (Warnie).
So...every Taff
has a story (except for Jasmine, she's so quite. Hey...maybe that's her story),
what's yours??

Hi Niall,
Haven't seen you post any
big rows for a while - still basking in the afterglow of that 7:08er
?!
Now that you are closing in on the 1 Million Challenge target
would it be appropriate to use the same facility that Carole Mac has for
collecting sponsors and readies ? See the 'Justgiving' website in her
signature if you haven't noticed it already.
Just a
thought,

Hi Martin,
No bigs rows for a
couple of weeks now (last one was my 38:46 10K). Reason for this is that I'm
doing a lot of interval training sessions right now. Hopefully I'll be posting a
new 2K PB before the year's out.
Only got 35K left of the challenge.
Unfortunately I've been asked to delay the finish until the New Year as my
company is arranging a live TV feed of the finish to the local news channel. Can
you imagine it?! Just as well I'm not the shy, retiring type!
Yeh, I was
very interested in Carole's post and the JUSTGIVING.COM reference and am
currently following up on it (need to find out if the Sophie Clarke Trust is a
registered charity.
Sorry I've been a bit quiet on the Forum of late
guys. Don't seem to have much time to contribute. New Year's Resolution is to
fix that!

Hey David A,
you forgot to include some important
information in your signature! You should add the
foot rest settings, actual
age in days, & drag factor for each piece. Otherwise, we really can't tell
if you're up to snuff!!!
Just being a snot
