Well stated Chris. If we would have a couple of Lightweights put the effort in then we would have a thrid full boat. biggrin.gif
I don't need to name names because they know who they are: biggrin.gif

Is anybody going to Surrey 3 & 1/2? I wasn't going to bother but I have to be at a family birthday in Epsom on Sunday and so I might also make the Surrey event.

Merry Christmas to all Team mates. Is anyone training tommorrow? Somehow I don't think I will get out before the kids are up and I couldn't miss them seeing what Santa has brought.

Fantastic, Speedy! Hope you feel OK today after that one. (Was that at 22 spm? wink.gif )

Martin, congrats on the new Model D!!! That one is staying at your daughter's so you can row while you are visiting? Nice. And great 6K. I can't imagine the surviving the paces you HWs are pulling. With a few days left before 1/1, planning to give it another shot?

I see also Grumpy & Holz updated their 6Ks for Taff Attack. What a team!!!

I have emailed Scott D.--he sure looks like a sub 21 6K to me, don't you Taffs all agree?

I am finishing my HC this afternoon with hopefully an HM PB; it will have to be at 2:07 or less to be better. Then off to my mom's till Tuesday night, and no rower for 3 days! After that nice rest I will give this 6K a 4th go. No promises but I will do my damndest to take of 10 seconds, that's only .5/500m. I am scared to death of it.

If I don't post Wednesday about it I'm probably dead on the rower and noone found me yet.

Merry Christmas to all!
Paul B
Speedy - Well done fantastic time. I'd be interested in seeing your splits and spms if you don't mind posting them.

Grumpy - doing a 6k on your 68th birthday - YOU ARE NOT WIRED UP biggrin.gif

As I promised earlier in the week I've had another go this morning and came in with 20.41.1 (previously 20.49.6) - chuffed with that biggrin.gif

This stung a little biggrin.gif In fact it stung so much you can humour me and read my splits:

1.45.2 @ 28
1.44.3 @ 28
1.44.1 @ 28
1.43.7 @ 28
1.43.1 @ 28
1.39.9 @ 30

Really pleased to have something in the tank for the last 1k.

Now Mr T back over to you - it's now your turn to re-visit the pain zone ph34r.gif Let's have another few seconds off your time - but please, please, please, please, do not beat my time or that gremlin in my head will be nagging me to try and have another go - I just don't want to go there biggrin.gif

Gareth - Let's have another big effort and have you go sub 22.00

Carla - Your going to have a crack at knocking another 10 secs off? ph34r.gif !! Good luck with that - it would be a superb effort if you could and would give us a great chance of holding on to bronze biggrin.gif For a 10 sec reduction negative splitting would me my advice if you need it - 6k is a long way to fly and die.

Happy Christmas to everyone

Paul
Bore Da!
Because I havn't trained for so long Im a bit stuck for what pace to run an all out 6K at. I figure Paul B did a 2k at 1:36.2 pace on 4th Dec.

A week later I went 1:43.8 (slower than his 6K today!) for 2k.

Today paul went at 1:43.4 ave which is 7.2 secs slower than his 2k pace

So my 6k must be 1:43.4 plus 7.1 (just to really get the pain going), which is 1:50.9 or 22:10.8 total (30 second improvement on 1st attempt). There I said it now!

Can see why nobody is looking forward to repeat sessions.

I've got two days off. I might do the 6K again on Tuesday. I'd love to go 1:50 for it. I'm also thinking about doing a HM sometime before the end of 2005.

I've entered the Surrey 3K, didn't go for the 805m. It's a puzzling distance, still can't find what pace to row it at.

Not really that puzzling. It is one half mile. For strategy, I would just split the difference between a 500m and a 1k pace - but then, I am not all that accustomed to strategy.

Bob S.

Note: On the water, you can get some really puzzling race distances. At Long Beach they do something like 850m. It just happens to be the most convenient stretch that can be used without getting into other boat traffic lanes.

Good stuff, Mike, I see you've managed to post your time yourself.

It's great to see that our team is the join best-represented team in the inaugural CTC listing. We have 3 qualifying boats, the same as Team Oarsome, and one that only needs a LWT male time to complete it (Niall, although his time may qualify him for boat III or even boat II if he can beat Dougie). TO also have a 4-person boat, and we both have a fifth boat with one rower in it. None of the other teams have this sort of representation yet, not even MAD, so well done to everyone that has stepped up and posted a time for us.

I'm due to try it today, for the 4th and last time. I'm aiming to hold .5 sec/500m faster than last time but don't think I really can do it. I'll start a tad slower than last time and try to negative split it. If I keep the goal in mind and block out everything else I might be able to take a few seconds off. What I have to do between now and when I try it is convince myself that it's even possible.

Just thinking about it is making my stomach feel yucky. sad.gif
