After the Tart's little dig about your weight earlier, I think it's only fair to let you know that the Tart has sent me an email about ordering an AIO but he says he's going to have to move up to an XL from an L this time because they are a small fit and he may have put on a pound or two biggrin.gif

Does this make him the first member of Taff Attack to have out grown an AIO biggrin.gif

Hello again.
After Carla's email request for a female 6k attempt I have just completed one. However, I suspect it's as good as useless to you if not downright unhelpful! I haven't been on the rower since my session with Niall about 3 months ago so I managed to produce a woeful time of 33:18. Please feel free to use it or ignore it. (Had my VO2 max tested last week and that was an impressive 20 or 22 or something - they told me I was unfit).

Will have another go as it can only get better blink.gif

Hey, it's great you're back in the boat, anyway! Sometimes it takes a thing like this to get you back going again after a bit of a slump.

You're right, it will get better, and we'll be cheering!

Hope you hop on the erg again soon. Are you planning on a January 1 come-back?

Just had another go at the 6k and broke the 21 min barrier....20.49.6...pleased with that biggrin.gif

I think that was about an 85% effort so I think I may be able to knock of another 5 secs before the months out.

So it's over to you now Big Phil...lets see you under 21 mins biggrin.gif

Congratulations Paul ohmy.gif This leaves me with mixed emotions, really pleased for you but know its going to be one h*** of a task to get faster again. But rest assured I am not going to let this one lie mad.gif . I am away visiting the inlaws this weekend so taking a forced rest, I will just have to come back stronger.

I had a go at Jaunarys challenge yesterday, 30Mins at 20spm. 7930metres - average pace around 1.53. First time I have done a rate limted session, feeling it today. Can't wait until next month to see what others will do.

Anyway next week will be focussed on getting Taff Attack back into 2nd or 3rd position.

Superb effort Dwayne, puts you well ahead of some big rockstars, makes me proud to be part of Taff Attack.

Carla and Bore Da - thanks very much for the kind words and encouragement.

Having looked at the league table it's obvious that any team with a very weak member is at a huge disadvantage and it's a disincentive to the other members to try to better their times by a few seconds when I can come along and slug the team average by minutes!

I'll be having another try this afternoon but I aint promising miracles!

(By the way Carla, did you get my email a few days ago?)
blod
smile.gif Well Taffs Blod and I just had a crack at the 6k challenge, results are:-
Blod 30-26 a really gutsy effort!!!
Ramboyo 24-44 a new P.B. by 36 secs.
Off now to the Cherry Tree Inn to sample a few pints of the amber nectar.

Well done Blod. And someone for me to chase.

Today's effort was 31:06.7 - 2 minutes off yesterday's time and heck was it strenuous. Think I'll get back into this rowing lark a bit more sensibly now - not sure I should be doing 30 min all out efforts after 3 (well almost 6) months on the couch ... tongue.gif

Anyone else going for a better time on the CTC? We're less than one second out of the bronz at this point. I can give it one more shot, but I wouldn't count on anything.

Good new for the CTC

Saturday I did a new 6K with the goal in mind of holding 1:59 to cut 10 seconds off (someone had posted that we needed to take of 10 secs each). I really didn't think I could do it at all but I had the added benefit of my sister there and she agreed to holler at me at the end.

Here are the splits
1:59.9 29
1:59.7 28
1:59.4 27
1:59.8 27
1:59.4 28
1:58.8 26
1:58.7 75
1:59.4 26
1:58.9 25
1:58.6 24
1:49 32

The last 100 m were at 1:37. Felt like childbirth; I sincerely doubt I can cut even another second off this. Final time 23:40.6. I'll post it now.

But you're gonna do it again, right? Silver is SO nice and shiny.
How about you, Doug? Can you shave a second or two off? Niall, you said you were giving it another shot, too, I thought.

Speedy/Carla - well done on bettering your 6k times - great stuff biggrin.gif

I wonder whether Big G, will have a go at beating your time Speedy? Anything left in the tank if he does?

It would be nice to hold off the might of MAD Team 2 - but they've got some big guns capable of some quick times - so I have a sneaky feeling Carla could be our trump card if she can stay niceley ahead of MAD teams Zippy - how about it Carla can you shave off another few seconds?

Phil will get under 21 mins before the end of the month I'm sure (no pressure biggrin.gif ) and I'm going to have another go on Christmas Eve - I might be able to shave a few more seconds off mine.

Come on squad - one last big effort biggrin.gif

Just been looking at Bentons 6km efforts, Dwayne may be 7 sec ahead, but bentons was at 22spm, just part of normal training.

I think he is just toying with everyone. If he had the opportunity to do an unrestricted it would be way faster

That was seriously a pb at 1:36.8 pace? There's a little skinny lwt guy, who can't break 6:19 for 2k, who is only 2sec in pace off your 6k now. Your best 2k is something like 8sec in pace faster than his, surely you can do better over 6k? I still stick to my previous prediction that if GB does a flat out 6k it will be under 1:34 pace, so surely you should be close to that? Haven't you done a 5k at that sort of pace before? I know Nik Fleming has.

Something tells me you think I'm getting younger, not older. wink.gif

I'm far from in my tip top condition. My best 2k this season has been a 6:01.

Like I said above, I'll give it another go this weekend. Maybe shoot for a 1:36.5 pace, but I really can't see me going much faster than that at the moment.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Pete. Makes me feel I can put my cane away. rolleyes.gif
