Welcome ZJ, 104,000 very very welcome ! Friday is looming
and great to see a few others may also do a marathon.
Nonathlon - does it
take into consideration height ? How much of an advantage do tall people have
over us shorties when rowing ?
Had a day off yesterday and am ready for
it tonight !!!

much in the banter as I dont know what I am doing with the rowing properley yet.
my brother the chippy is starting to help me, and I did have acrack at the
10,000m yesterday and did 40.33, I must admit that was as hard as i could have
tried at this stage in the game, but I think I did a good effort. Anyway good

2k. Looks like a new 2k PB looming?
I'm always a bit wary of doing a
flat-out 2k as they hurt like hell! Did my first one in ages last week though
and took 11 secs off my time for a new PB of 6:43.7

Mixed news from the Bat Cave,Sue has the dreaded

H.R.'S 185/183 respectively at max. as we got near the top of the mountain!I am
following a RowPro prog.on the erg that Bore Da set out for me, Sue follows the
same when she's not suffering from the above!
Rickster put me through the
mangle last night on our weekly squash training sess. Sue and I are off to
Cardiff on Sat to watch him play in the Welsh closed champs. Ricky, Hollie, Sue
and I climbed the Sugar Loaf on New Years day and on the way home had a pint in

great
time though and I'm sure you'll have me soon. Don't think I can do the FM yet as
the elbow ligaments still a bit fragile. Up to you to be first through the 3 hr

I don't know if I am ready for this, since I haven't rowed more
than 12 or 14K on a day since Thanksgiving, at least. But I figure I'll be OK if
I go s-l-o-w. I'm planning on holding 2:18, that will give me a little lee way
to have drink, snack, put a new DVD in; I'm hoping for around 3:15. 3:02 would
be at my HM pace and I know I can't do that. Just want to go the distance,
finally, it really bothers me to have that empty square on the Nonathlon grid.

Speed,
I would suggest you use
the following as a ROUGH Guide. You've probably gone to far if experience any of
the following:
1. The bread becomes so saturated it falls apart in your
fingers,
2. You throw up immediately after consuming,
3. The misses says
"where all that go I only just opened the tub!".
The target to aim for is
1 or 2 drips left on the plate, but like anything else practise makes
perfect.

I love fried food, certainly including french fries, but
am unclear about the chip buttie. Are you putting butter on fried potatoes? Or
are they baked or something else, rather than fried? I am not sure I would want
them in a roll - just eat them as is.

Carla,
Although here in the US a conservatory means a
music school, it also means an indoor, garden room. Growing up in southern
California there was no such thing, because the weather doesn't require such a
thing, but in, for instance in Pittsburgh and Cincinnati, there are large,
public conservatories, for displaying all kinds of plants year round, even
though many of the plants shown couldn't live outside in those
cities.

You butter the roll/bap/bun (on the
inside where the chips are going to go) and then place the french fries inside
(we call them chips in the UK but I know chips in the US are what we call crisps
- don't you just love this common language we share!).
Press down the top
of the roll/bap/bun gently but firmly so the ingrediants meet (you don't want to
squash or mash the chips/fries though).
Hope that helps. Who'd have
thought on an indoor rowing forum we'd have a thread discussing the science of
chip butties?!
Only "in" Wales!

A
cautionary tale from the Bat CaveMany years ago when PORKY
(Chippy's brother) was a mere 252lbs weaner, he asked if he could train with
Chippy and myself. He presented his porkesque physique at the appointed time to
the gym (my garage). On inspection, my comment to him was "I suggest that a
visit to the nearest bacon slicer would be advisable in order for you to lose
70lbs before you train with us"
23 years later the same applies!!!
The moral
of the tale is Porky keep off the chip butties!

YES!!!!!
I did the )(**)&((&)*(&)*
marathon. Stopped 4 times for quick sips. My back was sore to start with and
just got more so as I went on. Started out following my plan of holding 2:20,
and then by about 10K was doing about 2:17. Stayed that way until the half way
point and then slowly upped it sort of by accident. By the time I was done I was
doing 2:10, for a short while 2:05, finished with a sprint around 2:00 somewhere
for a finish time of
3:10: 43.1
and ended up #1 in the rankings
(I'm sure that won't last, but it's fun for now!) Probably somewhere in the
900's for Nonathlon so that will get rid of my horrible 2K
score.
Meanwhile I am very lame.....tired.....but

you may have worked out that i have prefered the fuller figure look through my

around most burger vans on a saturday), but there are a few of the greyhounds on
