I gave my meters to Taff Attack during the January Virtual Team Challenge. I was originally impressed by D. Adams, and wrote to request being a part of your team for the challenge. You accepted my request.

I continue to row, and no one benefits from my mounting meters.

I am not of Welsh decent, nor have I graced that land. I know something of its history, and give a bit of trivia. March 1 is fast approaching, and is St. David's Day, your patron. I do know that it is custom to wear a daffodil on that day in his honor.

As I do not have the qualifications to join you, I thought you might take my meters as a guest participating appendage!

Thanks,
Bruce Jacobson

I'm only a Taff because I read (and loved) some great Welsh historical fiction books, and the Founding Fathers deemed that good enough! So I don't see why your meters can't be Taff meters, too. As far as I'm concerned, you're in.

While you're at it, how are you at "The Rugby Test?" Give it a go and post your time at the CTC site and help us fill more boats with TAffs!

Carla, don't let me discourage you (or the person you're encouraging), but I think the Rugby Test is the CTC for March, so you might want to wait until then (unless of course you're just getting ready; but I hear that is some cases, having done it once, people don't want to do it again...ouch!).

For a few more days, 300M is the CTC.

Best wishes.

Niall & Daren, Sorry to hear the news guys.....

Lost a bit of fitness but am bashing my erg hard now trying to catch up some meters and post some respectable times.

Daren, can you mail me (wilko51@gmail.com) or reset my CTC password as I don't have it

Cheers

Mike

Great to see you back Mike and welcome to our boat.

I am going to have another go at the weekend. I managed 4K at an average of 2.00/500 last Sunday and no pain or swelling so happy with progress.
Starting to put some weight on the leg but still 4 weeks before I fully dispense with the crutches.
The Rugby test scares me, theres no way I am ready for it but I may find it impossible to resist

You must have a sweet stroke because there is no way I could do an all out 300M on slides ... just no way ... without banging.

I'm sure it's an absolutely absurd stroke at 53 spm. I tried first without slides and it was no good. It was easier on slides. Don't ask why. I usually have a bit of trouble using them for intervals but in the last month or so that's improved. I had the drag on my usual setting (117). It was a dreadful fly & die. Started out with quite a few 1:29s but really croaked at the end and was pulling 1:33. I think the only reason I was able to do better than last time was that I didn't really do any other rowing first, just about 1K warm up. The other times it was after 8--10K at various paces. I may try again in 2 days.

The UK Race Calendar is available on the C2 UK Site.

It's also worth looking on the Competitions Forum too as that highlights competitions planned (but not yet confirmed) e.g. Southampton (1st April) and the Cornish (12th March) events.

Get your self down to the Sutton Arena March 18,its always a good day out. wink.gif They are running three events this year,1k,the bleep test and the relays huh.gif Going to have a go at the bleep test which i think starts @ 2.30 pace for 1 min, rest 1 min then 2.25 pace for 1 min etc, At 2.00 pace the reduction is 2 seconds.
if you do not finish in the given time you are eliminated.Last year the big guns got down to 1.26 pace. ohmy.gif

AWESOME!!! So what was your finish time and spm? Did you do much of a warmup? I'm still trying to just plain old HIT 40 min.

I set my C2 pace boat to 1.59.9/500M and built up about a 15 second lead on it and then held on. Initial SPM was about 26 but by about 3k to go I had lost a bit of power and was up to 28SPM to retain the speed. Finished in about 1.54/500 - I didn't really want to empty the tank as I'd feel it too much today which is going to be busy from a work standpoint. Ironically the first 3k was mentally the hardest as you have not invested that much into the row at that time and its easy to give up. Once you pass 5k then its gets pretty straight forward as you have mentally decided to finish it come what may and feel like you can maintain the pace.
