If not, check out one of

Actually, Niall, you're right. I should have a pop at
that 60 minute time. It's rather old compared to my other times (October
28th).
It's not my oldest time though; 500m is October 15th, HM is Oct
16th and 10k is October 23rd. I reckon I should tackle 10k, 60min and HM soon.
I've tried the 500m a few times and failed every one, but I'm going to try a new
technique next time - small, high rating strokes, rather than full ones.

Get those hands away as soon as you can
for a quick stroke. I've certainly learnt how effective (and easier) the stroke
is using this technique.
Hope that doesn't come across as me telling you
how to suck eggs when I'm still a "plodder"

to make sure that I pass on anything I pick up to help you out with those PBs.

Wow, great work everyone on your record breaking rows!
and Debra for reaching 1 million...and everything else I've missed...I figured
with everything I am having to get done I'm better off rowing then posting,
don't have time for both. On schedule for the 200m challenge though it's hard to
fit it in right now, most nights I'm finishing my row after midnight so by the
time I shower I'm up till at least 1 and still up at 7, one more concert, I'm on
the home stretch....it's a big solo though so the closer Sunday gets the more
wretched I feel
Keep up the great PBs everyone, reading about it really
recharged my battery, I'm going for a 30 min PB tonight. Oh no now I've

Great going, Carla. I've no idea how you keep such a low
stroke rate for so long. When I tried 30 minutes at a low rate last week, I had
to speed up after 15 minutes because I was too tired.
Great work on the 8
million, too, Dwayne.
Lord knows what the Uni of New Mexico are up to -
they've overtaken Team Oarsome and stolen into 3rd spot now. MIT are extended
their lead over us again, just as we were closing it down.
Also, the
Willamette Rowing Club have overtaken Supercanoa, so they might take us from
behind if we don't watch it. =)

Carla,
Shame on you love, a PB without any large red
characters!! You of all people should know better. Great job on the 30-mins PB.
I guess the race plan next time will be to exclude the spit-choke-gag-nearbarf
element as that should get you an extra 14 seconds worth of metres.
To
keep the PB ball rolling I had a go at getting under 39 mins for 10K this
morning. Plan was to keep at 1:57 pace, pick up the pace in the last 500m and
then kick home from 250m out.
With Chris's words of wisdom from Sunday
still fresh in my mind ("I never bother with a warmup, I just get on the rower
and get on with it!" - That Chris is so raw, a true Dragon!!) I sat on the rower
and got on with it. Felt comfortable maintaining the 1:57 so with 1500m out I
decided to up the pace to 1:56 prior to my kick home just to squeeze some extra
seconds out of the distance. Kicked home strongly with 250m to go and came in at
(cue large red characters!)
38:46.9 (an improvement of 20 seconds!).

Hey Carole!
Super congratulations on your

bucks. (or would that be a million pounds? but who wants to feel like a million
pounds!) By the way, what was your time & how big was your lead on the #2
rower? I haven't looked at any other part of this forum in ages, can't hardly
keep up with this one right now. Any pix from the races of you getting your
trophy?
When you have to do a 30 min piece at 20 spm, what pace do you
have to do that at? I'd be curious to try it. I prefer a low rate, it feels
better and more powerful to me, and I know my form is better and safer for my
back at a low rate. Sometimes I just count to 23 (or whatever my spm is) and
don't look at the monitor and then discover my pace has
improved.

Although I've just about got my nose

season by the end of today. After my 10K PB yesterday, my old body was too sore
to do anything last nigth so I'm a session short. I'm not going to be able to
claw that session back today as it's my son's Christmas play this afternoon
